I picked a great day to start this blog. Yesterday when I got home from work Jebs babysitter said that he had not been his normal self during the morning and that he went down for his nap about an hour early. When he finally got up around 3:30pm he was a bit groggy but not too bad. He ate apple sauce sweet potatoes and Cherios and was in a decent mood so I thought he was just fine. When my wife Janet got home she felt his head and thought he had a fever. After taking his temp we confirmed that he did have a fever of 101.5. We called his Dr and we were refered to go to SMH ER. This was the beginning of my not so fun evening. Is it just me or do places like ERs airports and Walmart purposely understaff just to frustrate people like me? We sat in the waiting room for about an hour before Jebs name was called and we were moved to the back. This was just the beginging of our long night. I should have known when the nurse said she got off at 1am that we were going to be going to bed late.
We sat for a while before a nurse came by and reprimanded me for walking down the hall. I said "i'm sorry i am bored" She then asked if the Dr had been yet to which I replied that he had not. Soom a PA came in to check on Jeb. He said everything was good except the fact that he had a fever which meant he probably had some kind of virus. He left the room without saying what was next. A while later I heard the Dr ask the nurse if she had done the swab yet for Rm 417 (us). She said not yet and then proceeded to get it ready. I had been watching her do nothing for the past 30 minutes but until then I did not realize that we were waiting on her. The swab was a Flu test which she did and said it would take 20 minutes to get the results. One hour later, nothing. I went to her desk and said "Sorry I know I am not allowed out of the room but what is going on? 20 minutes has become an hour and we don't know the results yet. She said she would go find Alvero the PA and she walked away. We waited a while more and then heard the PA ask the nurse if she had taken Jebs temp yet. She said no and then got a thermometer and headed to our room. Finally the PA stopped by and said the Dr would be seeing us next. We asked if he was going to do anything or just talk to us. The PA said he would be talking to us. We waited and watched the Dr pass our room 4 times going to other patients and finally we decided that we were done waiting so we left. As I waited for the valet to pull the car up I watched the cranes on the adjacent job site as they started up for the days work. i also watched as my employees started making there way onto the job site. I would have to be at work in less than 3 hours. This had been a long day.
